“A Story of snow and fire… and of blood…”

STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL

The story of

Clarence Square

The charming, sparkling, talented, music hall dancer Lilly, finds herself being stalked by Toronto’s most notorious serial killer, the Nightstalker, after unwittingly witnessing his most recent vicious murder. Fleeing for her life through the snow blanketed streets, Lilly hides, masquerading as a Nanny, at the Mansion Clarence Square owned by the blind, brooding and bitter Edward.

A tyrant in his own home, Edward has lost his beloved sister and his sight in the devastating Great Fire of Toronto in 1904, and this tragedy has left him an invalid and deeply depressed. He is also now the unwilling guardian of his sister’s three grieving children.

Hidden in plain sight, Lilly tries to blend into the household and finds herself becoming ever more closely entwined with the lives of Edward’s three charges and her unpredictable host.

Obsessed with Lilly – his only living witness, the unidentified Nightstalker continues to terrify and brutalize the citizens of Toronto and he prowls the streets looking for her.

Lilly’s irrepressible and irreverent personality begins to break down Edward’s defenses and while he slowly begins to return to life (and even his sight shows flickers of improvement), Lilly must fight to keep her terrifying secret from harming them all.

Protected only by the walls of Clarence Square and her blind host, she must figure out how she will escape when the Nightstalker finally hunts her down…

This early version of our Finale ‘My Heart Is Yours’ was sung for us by Ramin Karimloo and recorded during lockdown.

The song has subsequently developed and is a duet between Edward & Lilly - in the final show version it has a more lively tempo.

but she could still hear his footsteps crunch on the ice behind her…
